Going To the West: Ghost Town
One gentleman at the Santa Fe information desk recommended us to drive the local road to Albuquerque instead of the high way. He said there are a few small towns to look at, especially the ghost town, Madrid.
It turned out that the small towns were worth visiting! They are really small (just a couple of blocks) but also very Western-look. Madrid is a nice artsy, hippie, and awesome town.
Going to the West: Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument
We stopped at the Tent Rocks National Monument while on the road from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. It’s not far from Santa Fe.
The trail was easy and the landscape was astonishing. I was stunned by these marks and evidence of history.
We arrived there around late morning/noon-ish, so the light wasn’t the best, but still, the rocks are amazing.

Going to the West: Santa Fe
Santa Fe is a totally different town than Taos.
In the town center, all the buildings look so unique and so different from all the cities in the U.S.
Visually, it’s cool and it’s so surreal to me. However, I think it’s a little obvious that it’s built that way to attract tourism. It’s too commercialized.
We arrived there in a Sunday afternoon, so the town quieted down after 5 p.m., which meant that we didn’t have time to check all the places.
I really like this photograph of my friend. It reminds me of the women killer in Kar Wai Wong’s film Chungking Express.
The only thing in common is just the color of her jacket, but still…
